About ATFT How-To

ATFT How-To is an independent editorial site covering the practical work of fashion product development. The guides here focus on tech packs, bills of materials, costing sheets, and the workflows that move a garment from a design sketch to a production-ready file.

The site is written by Priya Anand, a product developer and technical designer who has spent her career writing specs, reviewing samples, and building the documents that factories and sourcing teams rely on. The tutorials on this site are based on publicly documented industry practice, standard terminology, and the kind of process knowledge that gets passed on in workrooms and production meetings.

This is not a brand, a software company, or a consultancy. There are no sponsored posts and no products for sale. If a guide contains an error or describes a process that does not match current industry practice, corrections are welcome — use the contact page.

Editorial mission

Task-first

Every guide starts with a specific, named task. Background context is included only when it helps you complete the task correctly.

Production-stage aware

Advice is labelled by stage — proto, SMS, PPS, TOP — because the right answer often depends on where you are in the calendar, not just what the task is.

Independent and correction-friendly

This site has no commercial relationships with software vendors or manufacturers. Guides are updated when better information is available. Write in if something is wrong.

Plain language

Industry terms are used where they are standard, and explained the first time they appear. The goal is a guide you can follow without stopping to look things up.
